Warranty Policy

At Rat Rig, we provide high quality, open source hardware for makers around the world. This warranty policy reflects our commitment to transparency, personal responsibility, and long term support for our community.

Warranty Coverage

All Rat Rig products are covered by a parts only warranty, which applies to manufacturing defects in materials under normal and intended use. This warranty does not extend to assembly, installation, or overall machine performance.

EU Customers: in accordance with EU consumer protection laws
1-year warranty for enterprises from the EU
1-year warranty for the rest of the world

Note: Rat Rig does not warrant workmanship or final assembly. Responsibility for correct installation, assembly, and use lies entirely with the end user. Damage resulting from improper assembly or use is not covered.

What’s Covered

This warranty applies to individual Rat Rig parts that:

Are purchased directly from Rat Rig or an authorized dealer.
Exhibit a material defect (a manufacturing flaw or failure in the material itself).
Fail during normal use within the warranty period.

What’s Not Covered

The following items and circumstances are excluded from coverage:

Consumable or Wear-Prone Parts (unless defective in material):

Nozzles
Belts
Bearings
PTFE tubes
Linear rails
Hobbed gears
Build surfaces (e.g., PEI sheets)
Lubricants and adhesives

Items Not Sold by Rat Rig:

Components purchased from third parties or unverified vendors.

User-Induced Damage:

Improper or incorrect assembly
Use of third-party parts not approved by Rat Rig
Unauthorized modifications or hacks
Damage due to inadequate maintenance
Use in extreme or unsuitable environments (e.g., high humidity, dust, temperature extremes)

How to Make a Warranty Claim

To submit a warranty claim, follow these steps:

Contact Support

Email us here with the following:
Proof of purchase (order number or invoice)
Clear description of the issue
Photographs or video showing the defect

Evaluation

Our support team will review the claim and may ask for additional information or troubleshooting steps.

Resolution

If the issue qualifies under warranty, we will offer one of the following:

Replacement of the defective part
Repair of the defective part
Replacement of the product (in rare cases)

Additional Terms & Community Support

User Assembly and Repair: We encourage self-assembly and repairs. However, damage caused by incorrect assembly or unauthorized modifications is not covered.

Out-of-Warranty Support: Even after the warranty expires, our documentation, forums, and community support channels remain available to help you troubleshoot and repair your machine.

Limitation of Liability: Rat Rig is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or misuse of its products.

Disclaimer of Implied Warranties: Except where prohibited by law, all implied warranties (including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose) are disclaimed to the maximum extent allowed.
